Where is Internet service from Wave Broadband available?
To check availability, please visit our online service search and enter your zip code.
How does cable internet access work?
It works through the same broadband network that brings your cable TV. A cable
modem is connected between the cable outlet in your home and your computer.
Do I still need an outside provider like AOL?
No outside provider is necessary when you use internet service from Wave Broadband.
We are our own provider, supplying you with e-mail addresses and web page space.
Of course, if you prefer to use an outside provider, you may.
Do I need a phone line to use the service?
No. Cable internet does not run through a phone line. All you need is a cable
outlet near your computer and a cable modem.
What kind of modem do I need?
High Speed Internet Service from Wave Broadband requires a DOCSIS Cable Modem.
There are many computer stores and internet sites that sell these types of modems,
or you can rent your modem from Wave Broadband. The rental cost
is $3.00 per month for a cable modem. You can also add Wireless Home Networking for $5.00 per month whether you rent a modem from us or use your own.
Will Internet service from Wave Broadband work on any brand of computer?
Yes. High Speed Cable Internet service can be used on any brand of computer
(PC or Mac). It will work with most operating systems except Linux, Unix or
Windows 95.
What kind of computer system do I need?
Minimum computer system requirements apply for optimum performance of Internet
service. For PC, we recommend your processor be at least 166 Mhz, that your
computer have at least 16 Mb of RAM, at least 500 Mb of free space on your hard
drive and an operating system of Windows 95 or higher. For Mac, that you have
Operating System 7.5.3 or higher, 16 Mb of RAM (32 Mb recommended) and Open Transport
(1.1.1 or higher).
Do I need an Ethernet card or USB port?
Either one will work with the cable modem and service Wave provides. However,
not all computer systems allow for a USB installation. Before your internet
installation, you must have a computer with a USB port, or have a 10 Base T
Ethernet card installed in your computer.
Can I connect more than one computer to the High Speed Internet?
Yes. In order to hook up more than one computer, the computers must be networked.
See our Home Networking page for more information.
Is cable Internet service secure?

connection, including dial-up and DSL. Services such as hardware or software
firewalls can increase security on your computer. For more information about
